Every athlete who wants to play at the collegiate level anticipates that first game their entire life. What they never see coming is the final game, the final at bat, the final team cheer, or the last time they may ever cross home plate. April 17 was an emotional day for Vulcan softball, as they gave respect to their four seniors, Kanani Numata, Amanda Tellez, Christina Pedrosa, and Tessa Truong.

The day's events consisted of two consecutive wins against Chaminade University, including two home runs hit by seniors Kanani Numata and Christina Pedrosa. After the games, the team partook in their normal senior ritual, a speech from Assistant Coach Fred Entilla, a "last" run around the bases, and of course a mix of pictures, gifts, and tears.

The four seniors have made a huge impact this season. Kanani Numata batted .306 with four home runs and 19 RBI's. Christina Pedrosa hit .304 and stroked three home runs, while also scoring 22 base runners with her bat. Tessa Truong hit an amazing .330. She knocked one over the fence and brought home eleven runners. Amanda Tellez finished her senior season with a .221 batting average and two RBI's.

Four years of hard work, dedication, blood, sweat, and tears is quickly coming to an end for the four seniors.

With only a few games left in the season, the seniors realize this is their last chance for a conference title as well as their last chance to make the postseason. A season of hard work has kept the team alive, but they must do well in the games left on the schedule.

No matter how the team finishes, all four seniors said they would not trade this experience if given the chance.

When asked if she would do it all again, Amanda Tellez replied, "of course! I wouldn't change a thing."

In college athletics, athletes come and go, but one thing is for sure— these four seniors have permanently left their mark on the Vulcan softball program, and the program has permanently made a mark on them. Their positive and competitive attitudes will be greatly missed, but we wish them luck in their future endeavors, wherever they may be. Always remember girls, to quote Roger Babson, "It is wise to keep in mind that neither success nor failure is ever final," and each of you will always be a Lady Vulcan.
