Rants & Raves

Rants:

I am usually at the library doing homework and papers, sometimes I get on to check my mail and stuff but what I hate to see is this person who keeps downloading pornographic movies, videos, and pictures into his flash drive. Why doesn't the library do something about it?

We need more options in the masters programs.

I believe that major changes need to happen in the language department!! The way language is teach in some cases is extremely bad. In many cases the class is only to memorize phrases and not to teach grammar. Therefore, why don't students just buy the book and skip the class and save money by not going to the class?

Meal plans should include lunch and not just dinner.

Parking f******* blows donkey d***!

Fix the vending machines.

We need more flex points or to use our meal plans for breakfast and lunch.

We need more nightclubs, bowling alleys, and bars on campus.

Oh noooo! More tents at DaZone :)

The internet in the library (wireless) is not wonderful, very difficult to get unless in certain places.

Not enough chicks!

I hate how I get multiple copies of these rants and raves surveys thinking that I have many things to complain about but seriously this is the only one. DAMN IT!!

And seriously all these motorcycles that juke the hell out of me thinking it's an open parking space. I seriously just want to kick up the stands and move it someplace else.

Why does security keep selling day permits when the whole parking lot is full? Can't they see the people driving around the parking lot looking for spaces as is?

Raves:

Free food free drugs free alcohol free sex!

Big ups to El Nino for keeping the torrential rains at bay! Loving the sunshine!

The FLOW rocks, thanks for giving me something to do on a Wednesday night.

A "Subway" in the cafeteria would be great! Awesome is more like it!

I really like the Sustainability Club garden by the library. It's nice and well maintained.

I really like the new location of the coffee cart. All my classes are in UCB, and I need my caffeine fix.

A hot chick picked up litter and helped the environment.

TV in the Campus Center...CHEEEHOOO!

Coffee Cart... How I've missed you...

Props to the hottie who cleans after hours at the Campus Center and totally makes my day. You can vacuum my carpet any time!

Aunty Betty in the lunchroom every morning! She always has nice things to say and she makes purchasing oatmeal an unexpectedly pleasant experience.

Alex Parra on the soccer team... Whoa. Totally drooling.

Thank you to the health center for the tampon. You saved my day, and my jeans!

UH Hilo is awesome! Too bad it is my last semester.

The hot water at the SLC never runs out, no matter how long my shower takes.

Shout out to Eric Mecklenburg for making my required English class much better than I ever expected. And for teaching me the word FUG.

Halo Reach!!!

To students who are not afraid to speak up in class. Especially in Women's Studies... VAGINA.

Re: Library Patron Downloading Porn

The library doesn't do anything about it because they're not psychic. If they don't know it's happening, they can't intervene. It's your job to speak up if it bothers you, and to let them know it's happening. They can't read your mind.

To the person that wrote the comment about the language department, maybe you should learn ENGLISH before you learn another language!

That article about how to cure a hang over was pretty funny. I would just add one more thing to the list: have sex or work out (if you have no one to have sex with) when you get a hang over. It's true. A good sexy time, sweat, or sweaty sexy time releases endorphins that shake off the low energy, depressed or tired feeling you get sometimes after a night of way too much fun. Plus it's just good to have sex. Unless your still throwing up....that's some fetish shit and I'm not into it.

i like how i always find quiet spots on campus to be completely alone. it's much better than my last school of 15 million where sometimes i'd sit in my car just so i could read in peace. uhh is a perfect reflection of the island :)

Attention anyone working/employing people to work customer service on the big island (this includes you UHH). Customer Service 101: when someone approaches your counter, office, or you the worker in general, at MINIMUM look that person in the eye to acknowledge their presence. Continuing to chat on the phone, stalk people on facebook, or talk smack about a co-worker in front of the customer is disrespectful and rude. Employers, raise the standard for your employees and you will make more money. Pay attention to what your employees are doing (or not doing), and keep in mind that just because they're family does not mean they're qualified whatsoever. There's plenty of jobless people out there who will do at least the minimum of what customer service entails and would love to replace your sub-par workers.

Kudos to the readers of Ke Kalahea. We work really hard to make a ballin' newspaper. Thanks to whoever cut out the Lunchbox recipe and pic, and took it with them to the grocery store - Hope you have a dinner! Play some Enrique Morente for me. ;)

On a more positive note, a huge mahalo to the English department for being so easy to communicate with. It's nice to feel support, especially when times get rough.

Can somebody please scrub the mold off the shower walls in the SLC? I'd do it but it's not my effin job!! Also, ladies, be more courteous with your hairballs all over the shower walls and floors. Your clumps are gonna clog the drains and make our brand new digs backed up gnarly kine! Use da rubbish nappy dreadlocks!

I agree with Goober.. the flow kind of sucks ... Sometimes the performances are good, but most of the time it sucks... It must have something to do with the MC. I'm sorry but when I go to events the MCz are what makes or breaks da event... there isn't supposed to be awkward silence or long dead air. The MC is supposed to make the night live if the performances aren't up to par. Sorry if this hurts anyone but my fees are going to the school and I'd like to make it worth it..

To whoever said that the flow rocks, i'm sorry but I think the flow is terrible. It's a waste of student fees, it's not fun, it's not modern...it feels like sitting at a middle school dance, too embarrassed to socialize or have a worthwhile conversation with anyone. Why can't we have some events that actually engage students?
