A fight is a fight. Combat seems to course through the veins of man. It seems like humans are constantly trying to find new, indirect ways to hurt each other, but mixed martial arts allows a man nothing but the tools God (or whatever one believes in) gave him. The sport tests the determination and resolve that resides in the soul of a man. Every fighter has family and friends that will have his back in times of adversity, but in this sport, one walks into the cage by himself, and he is the only person in the world he can rely on. "Crazy" Chris Miranda was definitely there for a fight. At the very least, his pre-fight antics were the cause for this assumption.
He got into the face of his opponent at the official weigh-ins. He seemed to lack any type of respect for the man who would be standing across the cage from him. Russell "Da Muscle" Mizuguchi came to fight as well. Despite Miranda's obvious insolence, Mizuguchi remained what he always is: calm in the midst of chaos and patient when time is of the essence. Mizuguchi definitely wanted to flex his muscles on Miranda. He never doubted what he was in that cage to do: his job. He just didn't feel the need to prove it until that cage door locked behind him. Every fight in the octagon starts on the feet, but it did not take long for Mizuguchi to impose his will on Miranda. Mizuguchi did a masterful job at avoiding Miranda's knuckles and feet, stifling every attack Miranda could throw at him.
Miranda then tried to go high with two head kicks, but- Mizuguchi ducked both attempts and shot in to secure a heel-trip takedown. From this point on, the fight turned into a one-sided beating. "Da Muscle" pushed Miranda up against the cage, remaining in a dominant position for the duration of the fight. For all the blatant disrespect, Miranda was in a position that he couldn't talk his way out of. Mizuguchi rained down hard rights and lefts, from an almost mounted position, until the referee had no choice but to surrender for the battered Miranda.
After a brief moment of excitement and adrenaline, Mizuguchi returned to the calmness that he carries with him into every fight. It's never personal. It is just business. The first-round technical knockout marked the second straight victory for Mizuguchi to start his MMA career.
